08.08.09 Expo
Here are my fellow fotogs from AFOTO. Listening to tales from friends back in the UK of their camera clubs, I can't believe how lucky I have been to find such lovely people. Average age 35 - 40, compared to 60+ in the UK.
The social aspect of our gatherings is of equal importance as the photography and generally any meeting will involve a few beers and lunch or dinner depending on the time of day :-D Here are some of them at the opening of an exhibition of our photos in Callosa de Segura, and yes, it was followed by lunch and a couple of cubatas!!!

02.08.09 Crafting - Manualidades
So, the school holidays are very long here so we have to think of ways to keep the kids occupied. Here we are with roof tiles quickdry modling clay and paint. Finished articles will appear later. They did enjoy it, and it also had to be done over a few days so kept them busy and enthused for quite a while. Shame I can't say the same for the homework - or housework come to that!!!

Negros Egipcianos
The Desfile de Moros is one of the most stunning parades that Orihuela has to offer during the Fiestas. Out again with the AFOTO gang, saw the parade and later went for a quick dinner in the Casablanca. After which, we watched the Liverpool Group, with the comparsa Contrabandistas, fantastic Beatles tribute band, they finished at 04:00 am, truly amazing and thoroughtly enjoyed it. After this we appeared to be heading for the car, but oh no off to another comarsa to see another band untill 05:30, then it was home and bed. A very long day and night.
El Pajaro
Orihuela was in Fiestas at the begining of July, no children meant that I could go out rather a lot. Met up at 10:30am with the usual AFOTO crew for Dia del Pajaro. I was rather expecting to see the real thing - oh foolish me - but this appeared on a stick with ribbons rather like a maypole and was paraded through the town, by the mayoress - Monica Lorente - and local dignitaries, and then back to the Town Hall. They were accompanied by many of the Comparsas of the Moors and Christians, who were all in fine festive spirits.

Well, as I've not blogged at all for the whole summer holidays, I guess I'd better catch up. This is Lucia, daughter of a friend, simply gorgeous, and I need to photo her again some time.
Girlies spent first 3 weeks of the holidays with their Daddy, so I managed to get a good start on part 2 of operation house paint. All that can be seen from the road is now done and Part 3 will follow next time they are away. It also gave me some fine adult only socializing time - hehe!! Went out with AFOTO a couple of times, once an allnighter - completely unexpected, but great fun.

Time flies by
I can't believe that so much time has passed by since the last time I updated :-O
We have been really busy of late, half days at school all through June, end of term dancing show, friends round for swimming and lunch hot, hot, hot, painting outside walls of house, painting garden furniture, girls at campamiento, exhibitions with AFOTO, photography course and loads of other stuff, will try and flick through my pics and update a few things over the next couple of days.
